Identifying a hobby
Goal:
Students will have identified their hobby to work on for the rest of the course.
Materials/Steps
Check that all students have completed the ‘My Hobby’ form

Students check that their hobbies fulfill the criteria

Share all students’ choices of hobby and let students check for duplication of hobbies

Students form sub-groups to ask questions about each other’s choices

In the groups, students make comments on each other’s choices to help their friends make a decision on their no. 1 hobby

Students choose their no. 1 hobby
6
List the hobbies of each student for all to see
7
Ask students to try to group their hobbies into categories

Designing and creating objects (e.g. origami, calligraphy)

Observing things (e.g. birdwatching, satellite watching)

Playing music (e.g. classical guitar, khim)

Doing activities (e.g. kite flying, yo-yoing)
