Identifying words and phrases to write a media review

Ask students to open 5-10 reviews websites of either movies or games, open https://www.wordandphrase.info/analyzeText.asp, and copy the reviews and paste them onto the box. Then click ‘search’.

Click ‘SEE LISTS’ to see the word frequency list of the text

Ask students to identify usages of words in media reviews, and share in the classroom

Identifying similarities and differences across the review types

Students compare the word lists (https://www.wordandphrase.info/analyzeText.asp) from the media reviews and product reviews, compare the common words from both types of reviews, and identify similarities and differences

Ask students to open https://seoscout.com/test, paste text reviews of medias and products (one review type at a time) onto the box, and identify the following differences:
- Reading ease
- Average words per sentence (select ‘Text Analysis’ to see the result)

From the analyses, students share results and discuss the similarities and differences with their classmates

Explain students that, in the next two weeks, they are supposed to turn in the 1st half learning reflection and a text review

Give students an opportunity to ask questions about the two assignments.
