Students understand the course requirements and goals, and gain an overview of creating reviews

Introduction to the course.

Recap on the hobby course, and explain that this course involves learning to write text reviews and create video reviews of products or medias.

Explain that there is also no judgement on students’ language production. But, in this course, students are expected to produce the language fairly more extensive than that in the hobby course.

Survey of what types of review students are familiar with (This could be a quick class survey).

Identifying types of reviews

Give students these 3 reviews:

Review 1

Review 2

Review 3

Ask students to identify which review is for a place, which one is for a product, and which one is for a movie
How do students know? Have students explain what distinguished one review from the others
