Lesson Plan for Teachers
Wikipedia course lesson 13
Final additions to the Article
Task 1
Purpose: This task helps students add appropriate photos to their Wikipedia article.
Background information:
Adding photos to a Wikipedia article not only makes the page more beautiful, but it can be a useful reference for readers. However, students must be sure that the photos that they add to the page are not copyrighted. In addition, when uploading they must clearly label the source and copyright status.
The easiest way to find non-copyrighted images is to use Google Image Search. Students are recommended to use the option found under Tools à Usage Rights à Creative Commons licenses. All images found using this option will be copyright free.

Creative Commons is an international non-profit organization with licenses that specify how various works of art (in this case, images) can be used by non-creators. Some Creative Commons licenses allow for free non-commercial use on places like Wikipedia. https://creativecommons.org/

Task 2
Purpose: This task helps students add appropriate infoboxes to their Wikipedia article.
Background information:
Many Wikipedia pages have infoboxes, for example as a sidebar on the right side of the page. These often give bulleted lists of data that is appropriate for the page. For example, the Wikipedia page of an University might have a sidebar that includes the name, the motto, the type (public/private), the establishment date, the address, the colors, the mascot, and the URL for the official website.
Depending on their topic, students might also want to add an infobox to their article. There are infobox templates on various topics that students can use, including ones for books, films, games, medicines, historical events, people, places, religious buildings, animals, businesses, educational organizations, sports, technologies, etc.
